Exchange visit of Choir Conductor and Language Promoter, January 2006
LITHUANIA → LATVIA
On 11—15 January 2006 the first project visit took place. Rasa Gelgotienė, a choir conductor of Vilnius University Female Choir “Virgo“ and Rita Vickienė, a Lithuanian Language Promoter paid a visit to the Latvian Partner, Rigas Kamerkoris and gave three promotional language lessons to the singers of the Junior Choir who eventually feed into Kamerkoris.
During the visit the participants of Rigas Kamerkoris were learning how to perform the Lithuanian target songs,- two Lithuanian folk songs and a song by the Lithuanian composer B.Gorbulskis, while the younger singers spent much of the time studying the basics of the Lithuanian language: they were taught how to greet each other, say good-bye, get acquainted in Lithuanian. The young Latvian learners also tried to speak about themselves and their family members in Lithuanian. The funniest task for them was to find some Latvian and Lithuanian words similar in sound and meaning. Furthermore, the learners had to share their knowledge of Lithuanian with parents and classmates.
